United Nations University signs a MoU with the Cameroon Government

The United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa (UNU-INRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Cameroun, represented by the Ministry of External Relations on Thursday 12 November 2015, for Cameroon’s contribution to the UN University endowment fund for UNU-INRA.

This solemn ceremony took place at MINREX was chaired by the Minister Delegate incharge of Islamic Affairs; H.E Adoum Gargoum in the presence of Professor Jakob Rhyner; Vice Rector of the UN University, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo; Minister of Higher Education, H.E Yaouba Abdoulaye; Minister Delegate at MINEPAT and Dr. Elias T. Ayuk; Director of UNU-INRA.

Prof. Rhyner in a thank you message appreciates the constant support of the Cameroon government and emphasized the importance of this MoU to the growth and fruitful development of the UN University in Africa. Minister Gargoum sizes up the state of the relation between the Cameroon Government and UNU-INRA since the ‘protocol d’accord’ of 31 December 2002, stating that the present MoU (result of several months of concertation between experts of both parties), is aimed at giving a new boost to the existing cooperation with the UNU, especially the Institute for Natural Resources in Africa. He further states the  commitment of the Cameroon government in meeting its annual funding towards to the functioning of the Institute as contained in the MoU. The UN University is to provide technical support amongst others.
